Singles Venues / Clubs / Bars Guide Melbourne
Last revised: July 15 2019
Let's go ol' skool! It's been around forever for a reason. Singles (of all ages) dominate the club scene. Girls have a few drinks, hang out with friends and hit the dancefloor. Guys have a few drinks, hang out with friends, then summon up the courage to talk to girls. This issue can be if you don't have a wingman, but we can help you if you Need a Wingman. Then you just have to find the right venue/s for you, and we can help there...
Where do you begin? We used to run the world's number 1 nightclub website (Max Moose). It was over 500 pages! We're trying to summarise it in one page here...
The hotspots around Melbourne these days are Fitzroy, Windsor and Richmond. Anyone can just wander those areas and find a place, but there are other clubs in the city and suburbs too.
18-30 year olds
You guys are spoilt for choice. There are so many venues for you to choose from. You're probably more in the nightclub scene. Where's hot changes from month to month. We aren't in that loop any more, so we're not going to guess where's good this month. Ask your friends who are in the know, or better still, share what's hot below.
30-40 year olds
This age groups has plenty of choices too. You might be looking for a nightclub, pub, beer-garden, bar and lots of other places. You're probably most suited to Fitzroy, Windsor and Richmond. Maybe St Kilda too. There are plenty of cool bars, pubs and clubs in those suburbs. Again, tell us where you think is good below.
Over 28s clubs
These vary enormously. Most of them play music from today with some old faves thrown in...
Village Green Friday (Village Sounds) - Most of the crowd are mid 30s to mid 40s, but there are people older too, some much older. It is consistently busy. The quality of the crowd is better on public holiday eves. Lots of people from Waverley and the South East.
The Deck Friday (Frankston - Sea Circus) - Was fantastic before Christmas. Mid 20s to mid 40s. Good quality crowd. Top 40 and retro downstairs, RnB upstairs. Worth a look.
Gold 28s, Manhattan Saturday - Not my crowd. Mid 40s and above. Hans Moleman from the Simpsons was there ;). The locals probably like it.
Haven't been to City Limits in Sunshine Saturdays, or Discoteque @ Publican in Mornington. The Hallam Hotel, Flanagans at the Stamford in Rowville, and a few others run the occasional special event.
You can find some bars in Fitzroy, Windsor and St Kilda. Maybe in Richmond if you want something a touch younger. If bars aren't your thing, over 28s venues probably suit.
50s and over
There are less venues for this group, but less of you are looking to head out. The Manhattan (above) might be ok. Maybe Village Green at a stretch. Maybe some bars in Fitzroy.
